Cleaning your home can be such a monotonous chore, but these cleaning hacks straight from the houses of Property Managers will have your home sparkling in no time.

OVEN CLEANING HACK

Stanton & Taylor Property Manager Sue swears by ammonia as an oven cleaner. "Unlike spray-on oven cleaners which can end up on the elements and produce a smell after cleaning, ammonia does a brilliant job and doesn't leave an odour post clean. It even cleans the side racks and door all in one go."

How to:

1) Pre-heat your oven on 150 degrees to loosen up the baked-on grease then turn it off. Turn off the gaslight and switch the pilot light off if you have a gas oven.

2) Boil a large saucepan full of water and put it on the bottom shelf of the oven. Put 1 cup of ammonia on the top shelf in a heat-proof dish. Leave it to sit overnight.

3) Set the bowl of ammonia aside, don't dispose of it yet. Remove the oven racks and leave the oven door open for 15 mins to air out -  be sure to have a window open or an exhaust fan on.

4) Add 1-2 teaspoons of dishwashing detergent to the ammonia and mix with a sinkful of warm water.

5) Using gloves and a scourer, scrub the oven racks clean. The grease will come off easily and will be sparkling in no time.

SHOWER CLEANING HACK

Stanton & Taylor Property Manager Isabel swears by dishwashing detergent for cleaning shower glass. "Because dishwashing detergent is a degreaser, it cuts through soap build-up with ease."

How to:

1) Fill a liquid dishbrush with a dishwashing detergent of your choice. The PM's choice is Fairy as it is ultra-concentrated and works a treat on shower glass.

2) Throw some water onto the shower glass and then scrub the glass with your dishbrush making it nice and bubbly.

3) Rinse the glass off with water for a sparkling finish and a fresh scent.

STUBBORN GRIME

Property Manager Kim says every home cleaning kit should include Gumption. The multi-purpose cleaner can be used to shift grime and stains from surfaces including tiles, baths, basins, stainless steel sinks, cookware, ceramic and enamel cooktops, laminate benchtops, vinyl floors, fibre glass, hard plastics, and other similar surfaces.

How to:

1) Apply gumption paste to a damp cloth and start scrubbing the desired surface. Gumption lifts stubborn grime and stains with ease. Places where there is a build-up of product or food such as bathrooms and kitchens are the perfect place to use Gumption.

2) Rinse off the paste with water for a clean finish.
